The owners and staff of Rocky Sullivan's
would like to give our sincerest thanks
to all of you who have expressed
your support and concern
in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
We would like to thank everyone,
especially our regulars,
who assisted in the clean-up effort,
you guys are the best.
To all those who are struggling,
you will remain in our thoughts and prayers,
and if there is anyway we can be of assistance,
don't hesitate to reach out.
To those who are able to assist,
we hope you will consider donating to
Restore Red Hook
All of the businesses in Red Hook
were in deep in Zone A,
and for most, flood insurance
was not a viable option.
Every dollar of your
tax-deductible donation
goes straight to the businesses
damaged by Sandy, to be spent
on their recovery efforts.
Restore Red Hook
has no operating costs.
Thank you for your continued support.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Saturday, June 15th
At 1:00 p.m. every Saturday,
Radio Free Eireann
broadcasts live from Rocky Sullivan’s
Pete Hamill, Brooklyn’s greatest chronicler,
will kick off the live broadcasts on June 15th.
Pete will talk about his family’s connections to Red Hook.
One uncle, his mother’s brother, was killed in the shipyard
where Ikea is today when he was crushed
between a ship and the dock. In later years,
two of Pete’s other uncles, his father’s brothers,
worked at the shipyard.
Pete will also read from his bestselling book
of short stories about Brooklyn, The Christmas Kid.
The book will be on sale at Rocky’s that day.
RFE will continue the live broadcast from Rocky's each week,
with music, book readings and plays
from the stage of Rocky Sullivan’s
Brian Mor Ó Baoighill Studio -
named after the founder of Radio Free Eireann.
We will also continue our interviews
with Irish activists and journalists including
Geraldine Taylor, Eamonn McCann, Ed Moloney
and Bernadette Devlin McAliskey.
So come to Rocky’s to meet RFE and our guests
and watch how radio is done.
